Welcome to Just Act Gambia

  • A charity to support and develop income earning opportunities for the youths of Janjanbureh, The Gambia, West Africa
  • Founded by Jane Smith in December 2009, it is now directed by Dave Adams who lives in the UK and The Gambia
  • 2014 has finally seen the successful licensing of eight local youths as official tour guides for this island community
  • Based on the success of the Just Act Gambia name, a local Gambian charity with the name Just Act is now functioning well and is registered with the National Youth Council enabling access to Gambian funding and training, helping us to move towards our final aim of their independence

Earlier News
The long awaited official training by Gambia Tourism Board and ASSET of our locally trained tour guides was completed week beginning Monday 13th December.

Eight of the twenty one young people receiving this final training were selected as having reached the required standard.

The remaining people may receive further training as bird guiders, or be involved in Just Act in The Gambia in other ways. They are still a vital part of the team.

Thank you to all who have supported throughout 2013 to enable this!
